Triangle ArtWorks Launches Its First Long-Form Course
Triangle ArtWorks is proud to offer it's first traditional long-form professional development course "Craft Entrepreneurship" to artists and craftspeople this autumn. This 8-week course, starting September 14, provides early and mid-career arts businesses with the fundamentals needed to establish sustainable, profitable businesses.
With financial support from the City of Raleigh's Economic Development office, registration discounts will apply for Raleigh residents. The city recognizes that our region thrives on a robust small business community and understands that artists and craftspeople ARE small business owners.
The Craft Entrepreneurship course is based upon the REAL Entrepreneurship curriculum. It is designed to provide participants with business-school information not usually taught in university and community college art, design, and studio craft courses. Attendees will write cash flow statements, create profit-and-loss reports, write artist bios, and develop marketing plans. Students will learn how to become better networkers, set up a solid business structure, schedule their production, control their inventory, increase sales, and create financial structures to help them make better business decisions. These skills are essential, especially now, to artists and craftspeople who want to keep their business functioning through this pandemic and the current economic fallout.
Instructors Cynthia Deis and Tiffany Price Coley collectively draw on 50 years of experience as craftspeople, and business owners to deepen the REAL Curriculum and include timely information regarding the current business climate for artisans.
