Making Your Own Career with Public Art

  • online via Zoom. This program is being managed by the City of Durham (map)

Are you interested in creating art for public or large-scale projects but don't know how to get started? In this 6-week workshop, offered as part of the Durham County's Office of Economic & Workforce Development's Momentum 360 Program, those who live and work in Durham county can join David Wilson for a focused look at how their art career can include public and large-scale artworks. With activities and discussions, David will lead the class to develop professional support materials such as CVs and letters of interest; discuss pertinent financial skills, including budgeting and cost evaluations; and illuminate the best practices and common mistakes artists need to be aware of. This course will be held predominantly over Zoom, but there will be optional in-person field experiences available depending on current health and safety concerns. Full experience of the core of the course will be possible for digital participants.

This course is free and available to those who work or live in Durham county.
