About the Panelists
Annah Lee has been the creative director of Artspace, a nonprofit visual arts center in downtown Raleigh, NC, since December 2014. As creative director, Anna is responsible for all of Artspace’s creative programs, including exhibition programs, studio artists, gallery spaces and artist residency programs. Anna is a graduate of UNC Asheville with a degree in Arts History and UNC-Chapel Hill, where she earned a Master of Arts Degree in Art History. Learn more about Annah’s Artspace work here.
ShaLeigh Comerford is an Irish & Native American choreographer and the artistic director of ShaLeigh Dance Works, a dance-theatre company based in Durham, NC and founded in 2005. Her work is driven by a desire to uplift powerful stories and voices that address the human condition in relation to inequalities and forces of erasure. Her work stresses our instinctive human need to connect regardless of race, class, age, ability, or gender. She is a graduate of Hollins University with a Master’s degree in Visual and Performing Arts. ShaLeigh is the recipient of many artist residencies, including local and international. Michelle Wilkie is an artist and designer of modern quilts. Quilting is a passion, driving her creativity. She works to have her quilts seen not just as quilts but as art. She experiments with a variety of modern techniques and aesthetics, though embraces Improvisation and Minimalist styles. Michelle is currently exhibiting and participating in a community exhibition at the NC Museum of Art (NCMA). She has completed an artist in residence at Durham Art Guild with a solo exhibition “Creating Connections, a residency at Penland School of Craft, and Ox-Bow School of Art (MI). Michelle has upcoming residencies in 2025 at Chateau d'Orquevaux (France) and Pine Meadow Ranch (OR). Learn more about Michelle’s work here.
