Estate Planning For Artists Spring 2024

On-line classes will take place Wednesday evenings on April 24, May 1,8,15,22 from 6 - 8pm.

Applications close on April 3rd. Selected participants will be notified no later than April 12th.


Estate planning is a crucial aspect of securing the future of your artistic legacy and ensuring that your creative work continues to be appreciated and protected after you're gone. This workshop is designed specifically for visual artists to provide comprehensive guidance on how to effectively plan for the future of their artistic estate. From preserving your artwork to understanding legal and financial considerations, this workshop covers essential topics that every visual artist in every economic and family situation needs to understand. Partners, children, and assistants are encouraged to join. 

Presented by attorney and estate planning specialist, Katherine de Vos Devine, this course is designed to be death positive and proactive. Taught over five consecutive Wednesdays, this zoom class is open to all NC-resident artists in all visual art disciplines.

Note: This educational workshop is designed to provide general information and guidance related to estate planning for visual artists. Participants are encouraged to seek individualized advice from legal, financial, and art professionals based on their specific circumstances. This workshop is open only to NC residents.


Why is there an application? We have worked hard to bring this course to the community and are glad to be able to offer it for free. Interested participants should fill out this application. Space in this program is limited. We may not be able to accommodate all applicants in this program. About the Instructor:

Katherine de Vos Devine is an attorney, art historian, and the founder of Implement Legal, a progressive law firm built to help creators protect their work and preserve their values. She has helped hundreds of artists, writers, and coaches build businesses, protect their creations, and plan their legacies. When she’s not drafting wills and counseling beneficiaries, Katherine teaches Art Law at Queens University and writes Protect Your Magic, a newsletter on intellectual property and the creative economy.
