Chapel Hill
Ackland Art Museum – With free admission to all, UNC’s Ackland Art Museum presents more than a dozen exhibitions every year, offering a wide stylistic range of art. The Ackland’s holdings – over 16,000 works of art – include significant collections of European masterworks, twentieth-century and contemporary art, African art, North Carolina pottery, and folk art, as well as North Carolina’s premier collections of Asian art and works on paper (drawings, prints, and photographs). The Ackland has a vibrant and active program and event schedule offering music, films, gallery talks, and other activities on weekends and during the Museum’s extended Thursday evening hours. Durham
Nasher Museum of Art – Organizes and presents leading-edge exhibitions, maintains a permanent collection that includes contemporary art with a focus on the work of artists of African descent. Other major strengths in the collection include European medieval art, European and American paintings, Outsider art, classical antiquities, African art and ancient American (Pre-Columbian) art. Formerly the Duke University Museum of Art, renamed the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University, in honor of the late Raymond D Nasher, Duke alumnus, collector and benefactor. Website.
North Carolina Central University Art Museum – The NCCU Art Museum is a vital teaching resource and cultural institution on the campus of North Carolina Central University. It houses one of North Carolina’s leading collections of works by African-American artists and by others dealing with the black experience. Website.

North Carolina Museum of Art – The North Carolina Museum of Art serves the people of North Carolina and all visitors as a premier destination for compelling encounters with art. The Museum is a division of the State Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. Website.
City of Raleigh Museum – The Museum collects and cares for artifacts, curates exhibits, and provides educational programming that highlights and interprets Raleigh’s history and heritage. Website.
