Arts Administrator Workshop Series Launches

In October, Triangle ArtWorks and Triangle Community Foundation are launching a workshop series specifically for arts administrators in the Triangle. This is the biggest series we have produced yet and it’s going to be a great one!

The series kicks off on October 8, with a three-hour “Reset Intensive” for executive directors, led by Katie Weeks of Armstrong McGuire. Then, starting in November, we will be hosting a new workshop for all other arts administrators every month.

Here’s the info and links to register for each program:

“Reset” Intensive for Executive Directors
October 8 | 9 AM - 12 PM
Katie Weeks - Armstrong, McGuire

The last 20 months have been a lot for everyone. During this three-hour workshop for nonprofit leaders, we will discuss and practice three different activities to reset your team. The three areas include:

  • Connection: how can we build honest relationships with our teams and be intentional about getting to know each other.

  • Reflection: what did we learn from the last 20 months? What do we want to keep as part of how we work together and what are we ready to release?

  • Intention: as a team, how to we function “at our best”

(Limited to those in Executive Director or similar position in existing arts organizations based in the Triangle region of North Carolina).

Everything You Always Wanted to Know about NC Charitable Solicitation Licensing
November 10 | Noon to 1:30pm
Gail L. Eluwa - MBA & SOSNC Director of Charitable Solicitation Licensing

Generally, North Carolina non-profits that intend to directly solicit donations, or hire someone to solicit donations on their behalf, must obtain a charitable solicitation license from the Secretary of State’s office. Whether you work for a long-standing arts organization, or are just thinking about starting one, there are always lots of questions about CSL. Mrs. Eluwa will discuss the ins and outs of when nonprofits need a license, exemptions, staying in compliance, hiring a licensed fundraiser, and more. This FREE Lunch & Learn will be in webinar format, but Mrs. Eluwa will be answering questions after her presentation.

Engaging (and Keeping) Major Donors in a Pandemic
February 11 | 11 AM - 1 PM
Jackson Cooper - Pacific NW Ballet / University of North Carolina, Greensboro

While the last 18 months showed us that some donors were ready to give when we needed them most, the next 18 months will show you how well you and your organization can continue to cultivate and steward your donors beyond the Zoom screen. This workshop provides methods of identifying, cultivating, and retaining major donors through this time, determining your major gift threshold and applying a racial equity lens on your development operations. This workshop will empower you to be mission forward in raising major gifts during these unprecedented times … and show you how these donors are already in your database, waiting for you to make the ask.
